History of GHAP Badminton Club

We are a lesbian and gay badminton group that has been running for over 10yrs in Manchester city centre. We play at Sports Development Centre on Denmark Road, Hulme (Mon and Wed evenings) just down the road from the Whitworth art gallery, and at Levenshulme High School (Sat afternoon). We hire the whole sports hall so that we can offer a safe and supportive environment for gays, lesbians and transgendered to socialise, play sport for fun, get fit, and meet new people. We are a friendly group that is over 100 strong, with ages ranging from 18-65, male and female, from beginners to league players.

We encourage players who are joining us for the first time to come along to one of the Wednesday or Saturday sessions as the Monday nights are intended for  players with more experience.

The committee would like to thank Gareth who has now stepped down as the GHAP organiser. His expertise and effort will be sorely missed. Gareth has run the club for several years - the success of the club is testament to his hard work, selfless effort and style. We would like to thank him for his hard work and the committee hopes that we can honour Gareth by continuing to run the club in his best tradition.
